How Does CEREC Work?

Cerec Restoration - James Kim Dental

At the beginning of your CEREC visit, Dr. Kim will prepare your tooth for restoration and take a photo of it using a special digital camera. CEREC’s 3D imaging software will create a detailed virtual model of your restoration, and then send it to our onsite milling unit.

In just 15 minutes or so, your new restoration will be ready to be placed by Dr. Kim. This entire process used to take weeks and require multiple appointments, but with CEREC, Dr. Kim can complete it in about an hour with amazing results.

Restoring damaged teeth before it’s too late can protect your smile for many years to come. Call our office today to schedule your CEREC consultation with Dr. Kim!

Dental X-ray Technology - James Kim Dental

Low-Radiation Digital X-rays

Digital X-rays are a fast and comfortable way for us to diagnose issues that can’t be seen during a visual exam. X-rays are needed to reveal a number of conditions affecting the teeth, gums, and jawbone, including:

  • Small areas of decay between teeth
  • Cavities below existing restorations
  • Infections in the jawbones
  • Gum disease
  • Abscesses and cysts
  • Developmental abnormalities
  • Some types of tumors

Digital X-rays emit significantly less radiation than conventional X-rays and require no chemical processing, so they’re a wise choice for your smile and for the environment.

Intraoral Cameras for Patient Education

Like digital X-rays, intraoral cameras help Dr. Kim visualize hard-to-see areas and diagnose issues he might not have been able to see without the enhanced view. He also uses our intraoral cameras to show you what he sees during your exam and to thoroughly explain your treatment needs.

We look forward to meeting you!
